Diocesan Rosary Congress

to be held at Holy Rosary

STEUBENVILLE — The Diocese of Steubenville will hold a Diocesan Rosary Congress in three locations Oct. 7-13: Holy Rosary Church in Steubenville, Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta and St. Joseph in Ironton.

The Congresses, which will be done in conjunction with Rosary Congresses around the country, consist of Eucharistic Adoration around the clock for those seven days and nights, with the Rosary being prayed every hour, special Masses each week night, and processions and conferences.

Church Women United

Board to meet Friday

WEIRTON — The executive board of Church Women United of Weirton will meet at 10 a.m. Friday (Oct. 6) at the Oakland Presbyterian Church on Wylie Ridge Road, Weirton.

Rebecca Tish Turner is the U.N.I.C.E.F chairperson for the area fundraiser in October, which has been sponsored by Church Women United of Weirton since 1959. Collection boxes will be distributed at the meeting.

Helen Tate, valiant woman chair, will announce the valiant woman for 2017 at the World Community Day celebration on Nov. 3.

Turner, World Community Day chair, will meet with third-year delegates to plan the World Community Day service.

Cathy Cooper, unit president, noted all board members are encouraged to attend.

Ladies Inspiration Day

at Weirton church

WEIRTON — Weirton Heights Church of Christ at 3169 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, will host Ladies Inspiration Day on Oct. 14.

Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. Speakers will give presentations from 9 a.m. to noon.

Joint church picnic

planned around Applefest

WELLSBURG — Wellsburg and Franklin United Methodist churches will hold a joint worship service and picnic to coincide with the Wellsburg Applefest.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at the E.R. Nichols Playground near Fourth Street. It will be followed with a picnic, with the churches providing grilled meat, beverages and table service. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish.

In the event of rain, the churches will meet at Wellsburg United Methodist Church at 11th and Charles streets.

Sugar Grove United Methodist

announces evening speakers

TORONTO — Pastor Lori Jones will be the featured speaker for the 7 p.m. Sunday service at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, located on county Road 68, Toronto.

Other Sunday 7 p.m. speakers will be Pastor Frank Hudson, Oct. 8, and Pastor Rick Riggs, Oct. 15.

Sonshine Bible Club set

to resume on Monday

STEUBENVILLE — The Sonshine Bible Club will resume its fourth year of operation starting Monday at First Westminster Presbyterian Church from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The first half of the year will be for third- and fourth-graders, and the second half of the year will be for first- and second-graders. It is for pupils who wish to attend from all of the Steubenville elementary schools.

The final club meeting of the 20-17-18 school year will be May 7.

More than 100 students were involved in the Sonshine club last year.

Church hosting seminar

WEIRTON — The Weirton Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 600 Colliers Way in Weirton, will be hosting a seminar at 7 p.m. Thursday titled “Hope Revealed Through Bible Prophecy.”

Pastor Stewart Pepper will be the presenter of the free seminar open to the public.

Hymnfest Sunday evening

at Starkdale Church

STEUBENVILLE – Starkdale Presbyterian Church at 4600 Sunset Blvd., will host a hymnfest of Christian music on Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m.

The offering will go to Abigail’s Angels RDH12 Fund for Sight.

A dessert reception will follow in fellowship hall.

Ron Retzer Trio to perform

at Brilliant church

BRILLIANT — The Ron Retzer Trio will present a Christian concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First United Presbyterian Church, 200 Main St., Brilliant.

It is open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the concert.

BLOOMINGDALE — A garage and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Bloomingdale United Methodist Church.

Tent revival services

at Wellsburg church

WELLSBURG — An old-fashioned tent revival will be held at Riverview Baptist Church, 225 Charles St., Wellsburg.

It will be held Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Various ministers will be preaching. Various vocalists will perform.

Bell Chapel UMC to hold

annual fall festival Friday

STEUBENVILLE — Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, 3419 state Route 213, Steubenville, will hold its annual fall festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

There will be vegetable, chicken noodle, bean and potato soup. Sandwiches available will be barbecued ham, hot turkey and hot sausage. Patrons can dine in or get carryout.

There also will be a baked goods table and flea market table.

Pleasant Valley UMC

to host two-day sale

WEIRTON — Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 101 Lisa Court, will hold its two-day semi-annual quality rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 14.

The sale will include “loads of quality clothing” and various household items among other goods.
