Former area residents Sam and Donna Fornsaglio and Kevin and Anita Pestian are ready to play hosts again, this time for the eighth-annual Steubenville Valley Reunion set for June 23-24 in Sarasota, Fla.

“Everyone in the Valley is invited,” reports Sam Fornsaglio, noting last year’s gathering attracted attendees ranging in age from 15 to 88.

“A record 44 people attended last year,” Fornsaglio communicated in a recent letter. “They came from six states and represented seven Valley schools.”

The Friday, June 23 start of the reunion features a “meatball social” for the out-of-town guests. On June 24, a brunch will start the day off for the nongolfers, while the men and women golfers will go out at 8 a.m. “When they return, a barbecue cookout will be served with the great addition of an all-you-can-eat fish fry,” Fornsaglio noted, explaining that Kelly Burdge, “Florida’s greatest fisherman, will provide the fresh-caught Gulf fish. Kelly also will take interested fishermen deep sea fishing.”

Meanwhile, trophies will be awarded to the best men and women golfers. “Best men’s golfer Rocky Augustine plans on coming back to defend his title. So does Nick Faccinto, champion of the not-so-good golfers,” Fornsaglio wrote. “Nick now lives in Naples. Women golfers did not complete their round of golf after nine holes. They would rather visit and talk to each other,” he added.

The reunion has attracted visitors who “have come and stayed a week at our world’s No. 1 beach — Siesta Key,” he noted.
