There will be an iServe Day of Community Service held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Urban Mission Ministries with youth in grades six and up and adults encouraged to attend. The event, which is sponsored by the Ohio Valley Youth Network in partnership with Urban Mission, will include participation from Harding Middle School’s Leo Club and members of Steubenville High Schools Nike and Key clubs. In addition, there will be participants involved from 11 area Fellowship of Christian Athletes groups. “We expect between 80 to 100 participants, mostly youth, who will be performing community service projects in and around the mission such as painting, cleaning, landscaping and sorting food,” said Bobbyjon Bauman, president of the Ohio Valley Youth Network, who is shown reviewing plans for the event with Kelly Jeffers, director of new initiatives at Urban Mission. “We also are looking for skilled laborers who can help with specific projects as well, such as flooring,” Bauman noted. The event is free of charge, and each participant will receive a free T-shirt and free pizza lunch. Those who wish to participate should meet at 9 a.m. at Urban Mission, which is located at 301 N. Fifth St., Steubenville. “People who cannot work the full day are free to work as many hours as they wish,” Bauman said. Questions can be directed to Bauman by text or call to (608) 556-3068 or call Urban Mission at (740) 282-8010.
