WELLSBURG — The women of the Wellsburg Civic League held the first meeting of the 2016-17 season at Drover’s Inn on Sept. 27 with President Toni Taylor presiding and offering the blessing for the meal.

After dinner, a brief meeting was held with tickets distributed for a drawing for a television donated by Mark Cooper.

The drawing will be conducted at the November meeting with proceeds used to fund one of the many projects the members contribute to throughout the year, including money for the Brooke County Library and a scholarship for a graduating Brooke High School senior.

The organization has funded many civic projects throughout its 76-year history.

The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the River Room of the Brooke County Library.
