Delta Kappa Gamma

hears various reports

AMSTERDAM — The Oct. 8 meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Society for women educators was held at the Amsterdam United Methodist Church with President Barbara Pritts presiding and offering the welcome.

Twenty-three members were on hand at the meeting that was followed by a salad luncheon served by members of the church.

Reports were given by Gina Judy, recording secretary, and Treasurer Mary Barnes.

Pritts, who was to be attending the fall executive board meeting in Columbus, emphasized a continued increase in the use of electronic media and obtaining a web presence. A test call from the new system “Call-em-all” was scheduled for October.

Reports also were given by Barbara Jean Losey, who did two readings, “The Legend of the Spider” and “Count The Day Lost;” Rose Seck, whose committee is in charge of new membership brochures; Darlene Smith, Christmas nursing home gift donations; and Ann Wiley, who gave a humorous reading from “Vet Friends.com” and who reported the Dec. 10 venue will be Wintersville United Methodist Church.

Marjorie Gregg and Joyce Palmer of the music committee presented the program, leading and accompanying as members sang.

Afterward, members worked on descrambling a puzzle of the various lines of the lyrics of the same song.

Drawing winners were Cynthia Harrah, winning a plant donated by Pritts, and Wiley, who won a candle-centerpiece and various items donated by Barnes.

Weirton Woman’s Club postpones style show

WEIRTON — The Weirton Woman’s Club style show scheduled for Sunday has been postponed.

A new date will be announced in the spring.
