American Legion Auxiliary
holds October meeting
WEIRTON — The American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary met Oct. 17 with President Shirley Brechtpresiding.
Chaplain Doreen Holstein gave the invocation, Brecht led in opening exercises.
Reports were given by Secretary Marcy Spano and Treasurer Gloria Jerrel.
Brecht thanked members for bringing desserts to the Legion picnic. She also sent cards to senior auxiliary members.
The auxiliary will be making Christmas gift baskets for veterans in elder care facilities.
Marcy Spano will place the auxiliary’s wreath at the city Veterans Day ceremony. The auxiliary will participate in the Nov. 26 city Christmas parade. The auxiliary will give a gift to a veteran and their family for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The group will not meet in December and January.
Holstein gave a closing prayer. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21.
Richmond Historical Society
sponsoring Halloween dance
RICHMOND — The Richmond Community Historical Society will host a Halloween dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Glenn Mills Community Senior Center on state Route 152 South, Richmond.
It will feature music by the Sands of Time.
Admission is $5 per person, and patrons are encouraged to dress in costume. There will be a prize awarded for the best costume.
The evening will include food available for purchase; a 50-50 drawing; and a number of items traditionally sold by the museum, including T-shirts, Richmond pottery items and Christmas ornaments.
All proceeds will benefit the operation of the Crew House Museum, located on Main Street.
The historical society’s next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Crew House Museum. Anyone is welcome to attend or join. Annual dues are $5.

Free community trick or treat
at Carriage Inn, House
STEUBENVILLE — Carriage Inn of Steubenville and Carriage House will host a free community trick or treat for “all ghosts and goblins” 12 years of age and younger.
It will be held indoors from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
