Glitz and Glamour Style Show postponed until March
WEIRTON — The Weirton Woman’s Club has postponed the Glitz and Glamour Style Show because of the illness of Phyllis Barnscheuer of Phyllis’ Fashions.
It will be rescheduled in March. The club thanks the businesses who have donated to the event and apologies for any inconvenience the postponement caused.
The Weirton Woman’s Club is a General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia member organization.
Wellsburg Kiwanis rose sale set for Tuesday, Wednesday
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Kiwanis Club will hold its annual rose sale, to benefit the Brooke County Salvation Army, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The cost is $15 for a dozen roses, which can be picked up at Wilkin Flower Shop, 724 Charles St. For information, call (304) 737-0621.
Baby shower to benefit
AIM Women’s Center
WELLSBURG — A baby shower to benefit the AIM Women’s Center will be hosted by the Altar-Rosary Society of St. John the Evangelist Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church’s social hall located at 1300 Charles St.
AIM is a crisis pregnancy center at 248 North Fourth St., Steubenville, that offers alternatives to abortion, free pregnancy tests, doctor referrals, ultrasounds and classes on health and child care.
Unwrapped baby items may be brought to the shower or can be left at the church’s vestibule at any time.
The shower will include refreshments, games and door prizes.
Karleigh Kowcheck, a member of the parish and a student at Brooke High School, will speak on her recent trip to the coal fields of southern West Virginia
Wilma Stewart is president of the group and the Rev. Dan Pisano is pastor of the church.
Units sought for Wellsburg Christmas parade
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from those interested in appearing in its Christmas parade, to be held Nov. 25 on Charles Street.
The deadline for applications is Nov. 4, and they can be obtained at Chambers or James funeral homes.

SOAR Chapter to hold
meeting Nov. 9
WEIRTON — The Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees Chapter 8-5 will hold their quarterly meeting at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Greater Weirton Area Senior Center located on Main Street.
New officers will be elected, and those interested may have a pork dinner. There is a $2 per person charge for dinner.

Satellite veterans office
to be open in Dillonvale
DILLONVALE — The satellite office of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Dillonvale City Building, 135 School St., Dillonvale, to assist veterans, dependents of veterans and/or veterans’ widows with Veterans Administration pensions, compensations, burials, schooling, medical assistance and other veterans’ benefits.

Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed every Wednesday afternoon to the public.
