Weirton Woman’s Club will hold opening meeting Sept. 3
WEIRTON — The Weirton Woman’s Club will hold its opening meeting at noon Sept. 3 at Giovanni’s Restaurant located on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Craig Zinger of Pittsburgh will perform songs from his albums “Seduction” and “Lean Mean Piano Machine.” Zinger has performed with Peter Noone, Lou Christie, the drifters, the Shirelles and Leslie Gore, opened for Yanni at the First Niagara Pavillion and recorded “What Child Is This?” with Christina Aguilera. His music has been played on National Public Radio and he studied music at the University of Pittsburgh.
The club includes three departments: art, garden and literary. It is a General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia member organization. Those interested in joining should contact President Diana Durst at (304) 723-4469.
Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold several upcoming events
WEIRTON — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2716 will hold a flea market, night at the races and pot roast dinner.
The flea market will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 29, and the cost to vendors is $10 per table. Set-up begins at 10 a.m. Night at the races will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a buffet dinner being served at 6 p.m., Oct. 29. Tickets are $20 per person.
The pot roast dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. Tickets are $8 and include two drinks. For information, contact the post at (304) 748-9674.

For children: Play and Learn the Alphabet, for parent with children ages 2-6, will be Aug. 30 at 12 p.m.
Computer job help offered at Follansbee Branch Library
FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Branch Library will offer computer help with resumes and online job applications from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 3.
Help will be provided by library employee Natalie Staffileno. Class space is limited, and registration is required by calling (304) 527-0860.
