Mini but mighty Super Heroes
Of the 17 Jefferson County schools that participated in the 2014 season of Mini Relays for Life, Edison Local School District’s Stanton Elementary School came out on top, raising $6,201.75.
That was part of the overall grand total of $39,746.24 raised by high schools that held mini relays, middle schools that organized field days, elementary schools that conducted relay recesses, or, in the case of the Stratton Seacats, a swim-a-thon coordinated by Jen Sperry, Connie Rohall and Darlene Sperry that generated $1,671.
All the money went toward the Steubenville Area Relay for Life sponsored by the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
Stanton Elementary School’s relay recess was coordinated by Mary Ann Hoobler and Nancy Davis, who were awarded a plaque by Bethani Barsch, ACS staff partner, during the relay held June 13-14 at the Robert Kettlewell Memorial Stadium at Indian Creek High School, Wintersville.
