Pancake breakfast Saturday to benefit Cancer Dietary Initiative food pantry

A pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday at Applebee’s in Steubenville will benefit the 1-year-old Cancer Dietary Initiative Food Pantry, which is located at Tony Teramana Cancer Center in Steubenville.

The cost is $5 for tickets, which includes pancakes, coffee, tea and orange juice. Tickets are available in advance by calling (740) 264-1823 or at the door the day of the fundraiser, which also will include a 50-50 drawing.

The CDI offers an end-of-the-month food distribution at the center on the third Saturday of the month, helping by-invitation-only center patients. Items are delivered to the homes of patients too ill to come to a distribution or who have no transportation. What started a year ago and helped initially 23 families has since grown to assist between 45 and 50 families.

Donations of nonperishable items can be brought to the cancer center or checks can be made payable to Cancer Dietary Initiative and mailed to Miller’s attention at the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, 3204 Johnson Road, Steubenville, OH 43952.
