Shepherds to serve as grand marshals of East Springfield Memorial Day parade
The East Springfield Junior Women’s Club has announced that Carl and Pat Shepherd of East Springfield will serve as grand marshals for East Springfield’s Memorial Day parade, set to be held on Monday beginning at 10 a.m.
The Shepherds have been active members of the community since moving there after their marriage in 1948. They were involved in organizing the East Springfield Community Center in the 1960s where roller skating, dances, pick-up basketball games and Halloween parties were held.
They are members of Christ United Methodist Church in East Springfield and the East Springfield Senior Citizens Club.
He was an employee of Ohio Power Co. with 40 years of service before his retirement; an Army veteran of World War II; a member of the East Springfield Ruritan Club and the Richmond Lions Club; and a founding member of the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.
She is a member of the church’s Women’s Fellowship and is a founding member of the Spring Hills Ladies Golf Association.
The Shepherds have a daughter, Cindy, and a son, Bob; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
