Smithfield UMW has busy agenda
St. Patrick’s Day decorations and history were part of the Smithfield United Methodist Women meeting held recently.
Lorrie Greene showed filmed segments on missionaries Ken and Sue Sawka serving in Zambia and the progress that has been made through their work with Bible translations.
Virginia Young presided and read the Holy alphabet.
The Ohio Valley District United Methodist Women spring meeting will be held at the Wintersville United Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The theme is “The Roma of Europe,” with Karen Henke Zotta as the guest speaker. There will be devotions, special music, a free will offering and the Two Cents and a Prayer offering.
Five star women awards, a reading program award and 2013 goal awards will be awarded, and the Mission U Report will be given.
The School of Bright Promise Food Bank is the mission project. Women are asked to bring non-perishable items for the project.
Green was the hostess, with Ginny Young as hostess for the April 21 meeting.
