Group inviting middle-school students to ‘Minute to Win It’ challenge

FOLLANSBEE – Area middle school students are invited to a free Olympic-themed event with team challenges inspired by television’s “Minute to Win It” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 23 at Hooverson Heights Church of Christ located at 100 Church Ave.

Dubbed “Middle School Madness,” the event will be held by Fearless, a youth group comprised of 30 members of the Hooverson Heights and Follansbee Churches of Christ.

This event is designed to simply bring Middle School Students together to have some fun in a safe environment,” said the Rev. Dan Cooper, Hooverson Heights pastor.

It will include awards, prizes and food.

The youth group has been meeting for the last two years. In addition to events like “Middle School Madness” it meets at 6 p.m. each Sunday for fellowship and Bible study.

Members also participate in various activities, including ice skating, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games and snow tubing. Its members are in grades sixth through 12th, but Middle School Madness is designed specifically for middle schoolers.

It gets its name from Isaiah 41:13: “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.”

Reservations are appreciated and can be made by calling Cooper at (304) 527-1081 or check out “Fearless Youth Group” on Facebook. The Hooverson Heights church also has a website,
