Quinn gets ready for ‘Retro Night’ on March 15
Ready for an evening of some of the greatest hits from “back in the day” as performed by local artists?
Quinn Memorial AME Church located at 515 North St., Steubenville, is organizing its second-annual “Retro Night” set for 6 p.m. March 15 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner, 501 Washington St., Steubenville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 per person and include dinner and entertainment. They are available by calling the church at (740) 282-3192, according to Patricia Fletcher and Lisa Thomas, event co-chairs.
The “Sensational ’70s and ’80s Relived” will feature 16 performers – eight men and eight women singing classic songs by noted artists from a genre spanning smooth R&B to country to classics.
Among those set to sing are: Teresa Kropka (Billie Holiday); Elise Rainbow (Whitney Houston); Cynthia Smith (Etta James and Diana Ross); Regina Blanchard (Yolanda Adams); Tammy Davis (Patsy Cline); Melanye Wares (Gladys Knight); Bunswella Brown (Tina Turner); Juliet Hamilton (Tramaine Hawkins); Zozay Washington (Lionel Richie); Jefferson County Commissioner Tom Graham (Temptations); the Rev. Nathan Malavolti; Michael Jett (David Ruffin); Joey Albus (Frank Sinatra); Calvin Wicker (Luther Vandross); Horace Hampton; and Wilbur Knight (Sam Cooke).
Proceeds from the event, which is open to the public, will benefit the church’s lay organization.
In addition to Fletcher and Thomas, other event committee members are the Rev. Raymond Mickens and his wife, Robin Mickens; Jacqueline Gibson, publicity; Soundra Palmer; Dolores Young, tickets; George Young, ads; Gloria Crossland, secretary; Eloise Curenton; Mattie Patterson; Mamie Miller; Mary Collins, tickets; Ilana Chester and Sylvia Thompson. Delores Wiggins is minister of music.
