Center of Music and Art launches art show season

The Center of Music and Art in Wintersville has announced the beginning of its 2014 art show season.

“The shows are just a part of the CMA’s ongoing effort to invigorate the arts in the local area as well as to promote local talent,” a center spokesperson said. “A new artist will be chosen every month to show and sell their artwork within the store. Everyone is welcome to attend. Each art show will last one month and will feature only two-dimensional works,” the spokesperson added.

The artist for February is Brian Milone, an acrylic painter from Wintersville. “His work veers between realism and abstraction, and his paintings rely on a playful, textural approach to deliver their unique visual punch,” according to a news release.

In regards to his work, Milone, an artist featured in several local and statewide shows, said, “I like to display the use of color and texture in my paintings to draw you in and brighten your day. If I am able to do that, then I accomplished what I was meant to do.”

Slots remain open for the show, so aspiring young artists or old pros with six to 12 gallery-ready pieces in any medium can call Gerald Van Scyoc at (740) 264-3111 for details and to reserve a show.
