Easter cross project connects with 5,000 Steubenville homes

After a five-week campaign, the Steubenville Easter Cross Project finished its last distribution on March 23 with the goal of providing as many residents as possible with crosses to display on Easter Sunday the message “Jesus is Risen.”

Congregants from 15 churches contacted approximately 5,000 homes during the five-week campaign with participating churches including Brentwood United Methodist, Calvary Church, Christ’s Community Church, Crossroads Christian Church, Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Sugargrove Methodist Church, the Love Center of Steubenville, Tower of Power, Wintersville Church of the Nazarene, Wintersville UMC and Word of Life Fellowship. Urban Mission Ministries and the Franciscan University of Steubenville also participated in the outreach effort. Donations were accepted for the crosses with the proceeds earmarked for the mission.

The culminating activities for the Easter Cross Project began with an ecumenical Good Friday service held at First Westminster Presbyterian Church followed by the fifth-annual Christ Walk.
