Christ Walk set for Good Friday

The fifth-annual Christ Walk will be held on Good Friday beginning at 1 p.m. at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, 235 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, and ending at Crossroads Christian Church, 110 Springdale Ave., Wintersville.

The walk at 1 p.m. follows a noon Good Friday ecumenical service at First Westminster organized by the Valley Pastors Network.

“If you have not yet had the blessing of walking with us, I ask you to clear you calendar and come spend Good Friday in a voice of unity in Christ,” said Amanda Thompson, event spokesperson who noted approximately 20 churches are participating. “In a time when our community is suffering, it is a blessing to share prayer and fellowship with all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. The walk is 7 miles long with several prayer stops for our community. You may also join the walk at these locations. The person leading the walk will be carrying a large wooden cross,” Thompson explained.

“This year, we have received the abundant blessing of partnering with project Easter Crosses. I encourage everyone who has received one of the white Easter crosses to carry it with you during the walk. Many area churches are participating this year and people of every age, walk of life and denomination are welcome. All you need to bring is a prayerful heart and a good pair of walking shoes. We pray that everyone will see that Jesus Christ is alive and well and that the people of the Ohio Valley are unified in worshipping him,” she said.

The walk ends at 4 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church for a time of worship and communion.
