Amsterdam VFW, auxiliary help Stanton Elementary teachers
The Amsterdam Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 232 has begun the new year with a demonstration of paying-it-forward.
During December, teachers at Stanton Elementary School were asked for a wish list of supplies they need in class. With those lists in hand, post representatives started shopping and on Jan. 16, presented to each teacher a box of supplies donated by the post veterans, ladies and men’s auxiliaries.
“We helped John Gregg out early in the fall, so we decided to ‘adopt’ Stanton and help them out, too,” a post spokesperson said. “The community is so wonderful to us we thought this was the best way to pay it forward,” the spokesperson added.
Involved in the presentation were Stanton Elementary pupils Alexis Cronin,Gabby Carpenter, Emily Waggoner, Gabriel Rawson, Ethan Pappas, representatives of Amsterdam VFW Post 232 representatives Casey Barnhouse, Patricia Wilkin, Diana Plavka and John Gallagher.
