Recovery Corps seeks members
U.S. Search Rescue Recovery Corps, an all-volunteer civilian force serving Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia and beyond, is opening enrollment in its academy training for technician candidates.
An information and orientation meeting is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Wildflower Reserve Nature Center at Raccoon Creek State Park on U.S. Route 30 in Frankfort Springs in Beaver County, Pa.
Currently, teams have been established in Columbiana, Mahoning, Jefferson and Summit counties in Ohio. In Pennsylvania, teams are located in Lawrence and Beaver counties. Other county units are being added as circumstances permit, officials said.
“Whether it is an abducted child or a wandering adult, it is the heart-wrenching fear of every family when someone goes missing, where are they and why are they missing,” said Bill Marracino, an SARR member.
Professional volunteers for search, rescue and recovery stand ready to respond 24/7 to provide aid when needed, he noted.
