Fort, visitor center are sponsoring Spring Fling Shopping Day

STEUBENVILLE — As a way to promote efforts to shop locally, Historic Fort Steuben and the Steubenville Visitor Center are hosting a Spring Fling Shopping Day and Shopper’s Tea from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27.

“We have so many neat little gift shops all over town that people don’t even know about,” explained Judy Bratten, executive director of Historic Fort Steuben. “With Mother’s Day, graduations, showers and weddings coming up, people are shopping for unique gifts and we want them to know that they don’t have to travel far.”

There are 10 participating shops that will offer a 10 percent discount on most items, plus other specials for shoppers who have a Spring Fling ticket on that day. They can then attend a Shopper’s Tea to be served at the Visitor Center at 2 p.m. Tickets will be entered into a drawing as well.

Only 24 tickets will be sold at $15 each and can be obtained at the Visitor Center, along with a list of participating shops. Tickets also can be reserved by calling (740) 283-1787.

A portion of the proceeds will go to support the educational programs at Historic Fort Steuben.

Participating shops include Cathy’s Ceramic’s & Crafts, Something Special by Sheila, the Hallmark Shop, Anthony Thomas Candy, the Dappled Willow, Bookmarx Bookstore, the Prodigal Daughter, Renaissance Coffee Co., the Antique Warehouse and Historic Fort Steuben Museum Shop.
