Tri-State Medical Group will offer an informational display about pain management compounding from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tri-State Pharmacy location, 651 Colliers Way, Weirton. Ethan Levendorf will be available to answer questions, and informational handouts will be provided. Those who attend can enter into a drawing for a basket giveaway. Tri-State Pharmacy is one of the Tristate Medical Group pharmacies and is locally owned and operated. According to the National Health Interview Survey, more than 25 million people in the U.S. have had pain daily over the past three months. According to the CDC’s guidelines on prescribing opioids for chronic pain, topical preparations are associated with lower median annual cost when compared to that of chronic opioid use. “This could be extremely beneficial to pain patients. Topical creams that are compound can help with certain pains and in numerous cases these alternatives can be cost effective,” said Levendorf, a doctor of pharmacy candidate from West Virginia University.
