Duncan joins Expert Network
SUNBURY — Brian K. Duncan, a Mingo Junction native and founder of BKD Legal LLC, has been named a distinguished lawyer by the Expert Network.
He was chosen based on peer reviews and ratings, recognitions and accomplishments.
A 1999 graduate of Indian Creek High School, where he played basketball and football, Duncan majored in business and psychology and played football at Washington and Jefferson College before graduating in 2003. He graduated from the Capital University Law School in 2006.
His areas of specialization include business and real estate law, estate planning, insurance law and civil actions.
The son of Keith and Janet Duncan of Mingo Junction said he decided to pursue a career in law after attending a football game.
“One night during my senior year of college, I was invited to go to a Cleveland Browns game by my friend, who was a law clerk for a Cleveland law firm. That night I met a lot of attorneys and judges in the luxury box and on my way home I told my sister (Renee Wurstner, a graduate of Mingo High School) that I was going to go to law school. The next day I signed up for the LSAT and the rest is history,” Duncan explained.
Duncan and his wife, Dena, were married in August.
He stressed the importance of continuing education in his field.
“I am constantly going through current case law that is derived from the Ohio court system and courts nationwide and seeing how it can be changed,” he said. “The law is always evolving, and one thing I have never been afraid of is taking on cases and applying the fundamentals of the Constitution to establish new law. I try to stay one step ahead of the curve, and I’ve been fortunate enough to establish precedent in quite a few areas.”
