WELLSBURG — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has presented Eagle Manufacturing Co. of Wellsburg with four Governor’s Commendations for International Market Entry awards for making a contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

At a ceremony in Charleston, Tomblin said, “Today we celebrate West Virginia companies that have proven our state can compete successfully in the global market. Exports are a vital tool for economic growth. These businesses are an asset to our state as we continue to grow our business landscape and diversify West Virginia’s economy. I always look forward to this opportunity to recognize their successes.”

Joe Eddy, Eagle’s president and chief executive officer, said, “When national export expansion efforts are imperative to support this country and our work force, we are honored to be recognized with the Governor’s Commendation for International Market Entry.”

Established in 1894, Eagle is a family-owned business and leading manufacturer of safety cans, safety cabinets, poly drums, spill containment and material handling protective products.

The company designs and manufactures its own products and is respected for consistent quality and value, according to officials.

Recently Eagle received the President’s “E” Award for Exports, the highest national recognition a U.S. entity can receive for making a contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

Earlier this year HBSDealer, a top industry publication, recognized Eagle as West Virginia’s top manufacturing brand and one of the top 50 brands in the nation. And, in late 2015, Eagle received the national Sandy Trowbridge Award for Excellence in Community Service from the National Association of Manufacturers.
