Workers certified in smoking cessation
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Kerri Hill, Deanna Mackin, Bonnie Silla, Jill Smith and Cindy West, employees of the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley, have passed Freedom From Smoking certification from the American Lung Association. They are now nationally recognized, certified FFS facilitators.
“The Health Plan is excited about this program. We are placing emphasis on a healthy community and a healthy work environment for our employees. This program has been named America’s gold standard smoking cessation program for over 25 years,” said Shelly Rouse, quality improvement, health and wellnes director.
Freedom From Smoking has been ranked the most effective smoking cessation program in a recent study by Fordham University Graduate School of Business.
The St. Clairsville-based Health Plan will become a smoke-free campus in January. To improve the health of employees and support those who want to quit smoking, the certified staff will conduct eight clinical sessions focusing on helping smokers individually and as a group to quit smoking.
