Dixon receives state honor
WINTERSVILLE – Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is being congratulated by the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio for 30 years of dedicated service.
“The management and employees of Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are deserving of high praise, for they are always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. We are proud to note that it is through the diligent work of individuals such as all of those associated with this fine establishment, including its medical director, Dr. Jeffery Starre, who are willing to invest in the future of their community, that the State of Ohio remains a pleasant place in which to live and work,” read a letter signed by state Rep. Jack Cera, House District 69, and William G. Batchelder, speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives.
Cera is expected to present plaques in person to Starre and James Burke, administrator, at a special celebration for residents, family members and staff on Friday. The invitation-only 30th anniversary party will include a cookout, games and entertainment.
“In the 30 years that I’ve been in the business, I have ran more facilities than I can count, all over the country. I have never seen a government entity go out of its way to recognize one. I was surprised and tickled when we received the letter,” Burke said.
Burke, who has served as administrator for the past 10 years, believes that longevity and consistency of care is what sets Dixon apart.
“Over a 30-year time frame, Dixon has consistently provided quality care and exceeded expectations. We have never been a troubled facility, and that is uncommon,” he commented.
