Schuetz Funeral Home open

MINGO JUNCTION – Jeffrey Schuetz envisioned bringing a low-cost funeral home to the valley. In August, he made that vision a reality.

Schuetz, 28, recently acquired the old Hoff Funeral Home at 235 Clifton Ave. in Mingo Junction. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Ohio and West Virginia and holds a bachelor’s degree from the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science.

Now he is hoping to build his business and bring affordable funeral costs to local residents.

“People shouldn’t have to spend a ton of money on a funeral,” he stated. “We want to be known for giving a discount on our prices but not on our services. At Schuetz Funeral Home, you do not have to pay a lot, there are no confusing packages or price lists and you will be welcomed with warm, personal service. We offer the warmth of home when you need it the most.”

Schuetz also prides his business on its flexibility.

“When choosing funeral services you can have your service with us if you live close to Mingo Junction or if you live away from Mingo Junction,” he explained.

“We can arrange to have your services at a church or public gathering hall at the same low price as if the service was conducted in house.”

Services and prices at the funeral home include:

— Full-service casket and vault along with top spray, a memory book, DVD and tent service at the graveside totals $4,999.

Funeral ceremony at a chapel or other facility totals $2,965.

Graveside funeral totals $2,865.

Funeral ceremony at chapel or other facility followed by cremation totals $3,199.

Memorial ceremony at a chapel or other facility followed by cremation totals $1,965.

A simplified goodbye totals $1,710.

Direct cremation when the decision has not been made to not have a ceremony totals $1,195.
