Letter carrier honored for miles
RAYLAND – Charles “Butch” W. Folda has been honored by the National Safety Council for his work efforts.
Rural carrier Folda, who worked out of the Rayland post office for 30 years, received the Million Mile Club award for attaining 1 million miles or 30 years of service of safe driving without a preventable incident, according to officials.
Vicki Bruno, officer in charge of the Rayland post office, presented to award to Folda.
Folda is married to Janet Bell-Folda, who also is a rural postal carrier. His father, Charles Folda of Rayland, was a rural postal carrier on the same route his son has.
The Rayland carriers now work out of the Martins Ferry post office, but continue to carry the Rayland rural routes.
The Rayland post office retail window and post office box service remains open.
