Trinity holds focus on lung cancer

STEUBENVILLE – Dr. Nicholas Economides, vice president of medical affairs, and Dr. Patricia Khalil, chair, continuing medical education committee, with Trinity Health System, welcomed more than 65 physicians, radiologic technologists, nurses and other health care staffers to the Steubenville Country Club recently for a symposium.

The medical education symposium series, “Focus on Lung Cancer” included topics of interest and guest faculty who spoke on “Imaging of Lung Nodules” by Dr. W. Hunter Vaughan, medical director, Trinity Health System; “When Physicians Deal with Cancer,” Dr. Jeff Morris, physician Studer coach, Hudson; “Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy and Staging Guidelines for Lung Cancer,” Dr. Athanasios Colonias, Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh; “Molecular Profiling of Lung Cancer,” Dr. Daniel Petro, UPMC Cancer Center, Pittsburgh; and “Surgical Options for Lung Cancer,” Dr. Rodney Landreneau, cardio-thoracic surgeon, Pittsburgh.

The activity was approved for credits. Exhibitors included Amgen, Biotheranostics, Charity Hospice and Genentech. Future quarterly topics will include chronic renal failure, health care reform and clinical documentation and congestive heart failure.
